Going away... soon...

Fotos do litoral. / Sea coast photos.

A maior onda de sempre / The biggest wave ever

Fotos do litoral. / Sea coast photos.

It was on the last January 28th, in Nazareth...
Onda / Wave

It was on the last January 28th, that the North American surfer Garret McNamara, revalidated his own World Record.
The first one was achieved in November of 2011.
This time, with a wave over 30 feet high, at the same location.
In Praia do Norte, located in Nazareth.

Fortunately, that moment, was masterfully captured by a Portuguese photographer, whose photo was a viral phenomenon on the Internet, by the grandeur and terrifying beauty of such great mass of water, combined with the skill of the North American surfer.

Only a great talent and a great courage, could match with such a wave.

And the world's eyes turned to Portugal...
Once again...

This wave that I show you, can not be compared, at all, with that huge wave, which half the world had the opportunity to see, in several videos and photos, by the media.

It's just another wave, in a location near Ribeira de Ilhas, also well known by the international surf competitions circuit, showing the beauty and defiance of the waves, on the Portuguese coast.
Ideal for surfing, at certain times of the year.

Here, in Portugal, we usually say, that:

There isn't one, without two...
Neither two, without three...

So...
Thanks Garret!
We'll be waiting for your third World Record, next year...
You got the talent...
We got the waves...

Proudly colorful....

Fotos do litoral. / Sea coast photos.

An afternoon at the beach...

Fotos do litoral. / Sea coast photos.

Shania Twain - Life's About To Get Good.
Foto de Ana Freire.
"A nudez do teu corpo
calou fundo, a solidão
e dos silêncios no ar,
saí de mim, encontrei-te...

Teu corpo nu,
numa tarde sem tempo,
só o vento se ouve,
e os abraços, se cruzam...

No ar quente dessa tarde,
(...) para lá das vagas ansiosas,
a eternidade do desejo,
essa rosa orvalhada,
nas ânsias que em nós
são segredos...

Teus lábios águas salgadas.
Teu corpo envolto
em areias quentes...
(LUÍS ROMARIZ, do blogue Mir'arte).

As autumn, this year, seems reluctant in to appear, around here... I leave you another image... by the sea... still with a summer flavor...
Uma tarde na praia... / An afternoon at the beach...

"The nakedness of your body
locked the loneliness
and from the silences in the air,
I get out of me, I found you...

Your naked body,
in an afternoon without time,
in which only the wind is heard,
and hugs cross each other...

In the hot air of that afternoon,
(...) beyond the anxious waves,
the eternity of desire,
that moisted rose,
in the cravings that in us
are secrets...

Your lips are salty waters.
Your body is wrapped
in hot sands...
(LUÍS ROMARIZ, from the blog Mir'arte).

As autumn, this year, seems reluctant in to appear, around here... I leave you another image at the beach... still with a summer flavor...
And because by these days, I have to decide myself, to switch my summer clothes by my autumn and winter clothes, in my closets... I leave you my musical suggestion... with the intention of mentalizing and inspiring myself... to pursue with such an arduous task... Shania Twain - Life's About To Get Good. Tesouros do mar / Treasures of sea

Fotos de animais. / Animal photos.

Tesouros do mar / Treasures of sea

When the tide goes down, the tidepools, reveal small treasures of biodiversity, with amazing colors and shapes...
Here it stays, a photo of a starfish, at St. Sebastian's beach, in Ericeira, followed by another great thought, in a few words, as we like, here, on our blog.

The starfish is a marine animal, belonging to the class of echinoderms. Having a radial symmetry, they are covered with thorns, which have the functions of protection and locomotion.
They mainly feed of molluscs, bivalves and gastropods.
A work of art... made by Nature.

Back home...

Fotos da cidade. / City photos.

À beira mar / At the seaside

Fotos do litoral. / Sea coast photos.

"Define the beautiful is not to understand it." (FERNANDO PESSOA, 1888 - 1935)
If we look closely, something beautiful might appear, even in the most unlikely places, as we can see in this image of a simple water puddle, on a beach of the portuguese coast, near its most western point.
We will be absent for a while longer. For now, we leave you with one more inspiring thought, in a nutshell... and a sugestive photo.

Falling Star...

Fotos de animais. / Animal photos.

Pedro Moutinho - Força do Mar.
Foto de Ana Freire.
"Tudo passa,
depressa
ou lentamente,
mas passa,
como um cometa luzente.

Continuamos a caminhada,
e para trás, fica cada pegada.

Também as ondas do mar,
levam as estrelas,

estrelas cadentes,
brilham e remendam
os cacos foscos do coração."
(Sandra Reis, do blog... Delicios@mente... Quase Cinderela).

Continuamos em pausa, por aqui...

"Everything passes,
quickly
or slowly,
but passes,
like a glowing comet.

But we continue our journey,
Leaving behind, every footprint.

Also the waves of the sea,
take the stars,
and, only sometimes, on the beach,
we might see them again.

And further on,
also lying on the ground,
Falling stars,
shine and patch
the matte little pieces of broken hearts."
(Sandra Reis, from the blog... Delicios@mente... Quase Cinderela).

It is in darkness... that the true stars reveal themselves...
And the link with my musical suggestion for today, here it stays... Pedro Moutinho - Força do Mar.

Olhares / Looks

Fotos de animais. / Animal photos.

(FRIEDRICH NIETZSCHE, 1844 - 1900)

Olhares / Looks

"Out of life's school of war: What does not destroy me, makes me stronger." (FRIEDRICH NIETZSCHE, 1844 - 1900)
Hunter and prey looking in opposite directions. Two looks that do not cross...
They also are in opposed positions.
One, won a small battle, that allows it's survival.
The other, has lost the last battle of it's life.

I loved having captured their opposite looks, as well as the dignified pose with which both animals are placed in the photo. Animals which faced each other, in a duel of survival, and still seem to keep their opposing positions, and different ways of looking the world, even after the battle having come to an end, and their fate decided.

After all, are also battles and the defense of different points of view, which allow the civilization's progress...
Here it is the photo, taken at Fisherman's Beach, in Ericeira, together with another great thought, in a few words...

At the temple's door...

Fotos do litoral. / Sea coast photos.

Celebrar o amor neste momento,
nesta praia deserta com alegria.
É recriação de nobre sentimento.
Entoo de hino, amar com poesia.

Amo sentir euforia e veneração,
inspiro-me no aflorar constante.
Canto-te solene feitio de oração,
beijo-te. É embriaguez excitante.

Sim é belo, viver pela plenitude,
blindar o coração à tempestade,
assedia-me estranha inquietude.
Quem sabe seja amor pela tarde?"
(Toninho, de seus blogues... Mineirinho, e... Momentos e Inspirações).

"Perhaps it comes with the dawn,
with the tender sound of the nightingale.
I'll wait for you in this setting sun,
when the king star shows us, its most exciting tale.

Celebrating love right now,
on this deserted beach with joy.
It is a recreation of noble feeling.
An hymn intonation, a poetry to enjoy.

I love to feel excitement and veneration,
I am inspired by the constant emergence.
I sing to you a solemn prayer.
I kiss you. It's exciting intoxication.

Yes it is beautiful, to live for the fullness,
Shielding the heart from the storm.
Haunts me a strange restlessness,
Perhaps it's love in this afternoon so warm?"
(Toninho, from his blogs... Mineirinho, and... Momentos e Inspirações).

Cores de Verão, pintura a óleo e acrílico / Summer Colors, oil and acrylic painting

Pinturas de paisagens. / Landscape paintings.

Detalhes da pintura / Details of the painting

Now, that Winter is approaching, at great speed, and gray days become more and more frequent, I take the opportunity to finish today the presentation of my oil and acrylic painting, on canvas, titled... Summer Colors.

It is the perfect excuse to give a touch of color here on the blog, by these cold days, which are being felt already, with Summer's colors.
Warm, bright and comforting colors...

This painting was for Danny... who likes so much of Summer, sunshine, beach and some great dives. And to remember himself of being always in a good wave... wherever he is...
Hope to see you soon, Danny!!!
