A sua obra, sempre reflectiu uma profunda e apurada consciência social, sentido de justiça, e repúdio por regimes totalitaristas... ainda que com um acutilante toque de humor...

Nestes tempos atribulados, deixo-vos algumas citações, que nos oferecem sobre o que pensar, de alguém que terá vivenciado um período intenso, em acontecimentos tão transformadores e marcantes da sociedade inglesa de então, abarcando duas Guerras Mundiais... de George Orwell, 1903 - 1950, escritor, cronista e ensaísta politico, cujas obras mais amplamente conhecidas, são "A Revolução dos Bichos" e "1984".

From the past...

Porque o passado tem esta exasperante característica de ciclicamente se repetir... devíamos saber tê-lo bem mais presente no nosso presente, para melhor o compreendermos em toda a sua abrangência, e sabermos com o que podemos contar, nas nossas opções mais decisivas... 

Mal saídos de uma pandemia... o mundo envolveu-se num conflito à escala global... tal aconteceu há pouco mais de um século atrás... e no entanto, no momento, estamos numa conjuntura de crescente turbulência para algo idêntico.

Todos por um e um por todos... é algo maravilhoso de se assistir... enquanto não se considera na equação... algo que Einstein subtilmente mencionou na citação que vos deixo em baixo. O poderio bélico de última geração. Quando se equaciona tal... obtém-se um outro mundo... feito de consequências irreversíveis, e que nos devolve... aos primórdios da humanidade... e à mais básica das leis da sobrevivência: cada um por si.

Desejo para as próximas semanas, que a velocidade dos acontecimentos, não ultrapasse a velocidade do bom senso, da razão, dos caminhos de diálogo e do lúcido discernimento, perante os mesmos.

Assim sendo, creio devermos ter bem presentes, as sábias palavras que vos deixo mais abaixo... também elas vindas do passado.

Because the past has this exasperating characteristic of cyclically repeating itself... we should know how to have it much more present in our present, to better understand it in all its coverage, and to know to what we can count on, in our most decisive options...

Barely out of a pandemic... the world was involved in a global-scale conflict... it was just over a century ago... and yet, at the moment, we are in a juncture of increasing turmoil for something similar.

All for one and one for all... it's a wonderful thing to watch... until you factor it into the equation... something that Einstein subtly mentioned in the quote above. The state-of-the-art military might. When you consider such... you get another world... made of irreversible consequences, and that returns us... to the beginnings of humanity... and to the most basic of the laws of survival: every man for himself.

I wish for the next few weeks that the speed of events does not exceed the speed of common sense, reason, the paths of dialogue and lucid discernment, before them.

Therefore, I believe that we must bear in mind the wise words that I leave you above... which they also come from the past.

Pure essence...

Não importa à qualidade, a quantidade que não consegue alcançar.

Norteamos tanto a nossa vida por padrões de quantidade... que inúmeras vezes, nos premeiam com um sentimento de insuficiência, desapontamento ou insatisfação... pois nem sempre estarão alinhados com padrões de qualidade.

Acumulamos quereres e teres... que nem sempre se traduzem em verdadeiros contentamentos ou prazeres.

Podemos ter tanto... e contudo ainda assim, conseguirmos realmente apreciar bem pouco.

Vivemos tempos, que nos fazem, ainda que forçosamente, apreciar mais do que nunca o que temos, em detrimento daquilo que queremos... vale a pena repensar de novo, na preciosidade e essência, de cada momento.

We accumulate wants and possessions... that do not always translate into true contentments or pleasures.

We can have so much... and yet, we can really appreciate very little.

We live in times that make us, even forcibly, appreciate more than ever what we have, instead of what we want ... it's worth rethinking again, the preciousness and essence of each moment.

Quando um trevo de quatro folhas nasce no canteiro das rosas, achando que é um guarda sol... será algo mais ou menos assim, como o que mostro em seguida!... :-)

Nestes tempos atribulados que atravessamos... não contemos com a sorte... mas devemos e podemos fazer por tê-la... com bom senso e prudência, para não agravar ainda mais circunstâncias adversas...

O uso obrigatório de máscaras em espaços públicos, por 70 dias, foi ontem aprovado, no nosso país. Não contestemos uma medida, tão simples, que pode evitar o colapso dos serviços hospitalares com o excesso de casos de Covid...

The mandatory use of masks in public spaces for 70 days has been approved in our country, yesterday. Let us not fight against a measure, so simple, that it can prevent the collapse of hospital services with the excess of Covid cases...

Nature always recovers...

Se há coisa que o COVID-19 também proporcionou... foi deixar-nos a respirar melhor...

As emissões de gases poluentes na China, diminuíram consideravelmente segundo imagens recolhidas pela NASA. Desde que rebentou toda esta onda de sobressalto, e a actividade económica neste país, sofreu uma forte redução... notou-se que a diminuição de dióxido de nitrogénio, foi bastante acentuada...

Os habitantes das cidades mais poluídas da China, já conseguem ver de novo, o azul do céu... e nós, podemos assim, alegremente concluir,  que este nosso atormentado planeta, recuperará rapidamente, assim que não mais estejamos nele...

Sabem que este novo vírus, veio mudar os nossos hábitos correntes de higiene, não sabem?... Há que lavar / desinfectar as mãos com bastante frequência, fora de casa... e reduzir ao máximo, nesta etapa, até ao pico desta pandemia,  os efusivos cumprimentos, que possamos estar habituados a fazer, aos que nos são próximos ou conhecidos... e se tiverem amigos ou conhecidos, que tenham regressado recentemente de alguma viagem... simples! Cumprimentem-nos de bem longe!... Neste momento, aviões e aeroportos, poderão ser um verdadeiro meio de transporte  (rápido) e berçário... também para os bicharocos... e só quem for absolutamente inconsciente (ou quiçá, acéfalo), nesta fase de pandemia, é que não reduzirá as suas  deslocações, ao mínimo possível.

Nesse aspecto... temos um Presidente da República dotado de muito bom senso, que está a dar um verdadeiro exemplo, ao país!...

A Natureza sempre recupera.../Nature always recovers...

If there is one thing that COVID-19 has also provided... it was letting us breathe better...

Pollutant gas emissions in China have decreased considerably according to images collected by NASA. Since all this startle wave broke out, and the economic activity in this country, it has suffered a strong reduction... it was noted that the decrease in nitrogen dioxide, was quite sharp...

The inhabitants of the most polluted cities in China are already able to see the blue sky again... and we can happily conclude, that this tormented planet of ours will recover quickly, as soon as we all are no longer on it...

You know that this new virus has changed our current hygiene habits, don't you know?... You must wash / disinfect your hands quite often, outside home... and must reduce as much as possible, at this stage, until the peak of this pandemic, the effusive greetings, which you may have be accustomed to make, to those who are close or known to you.

And if you have friends or acquaintances, who have recently returned from a trip... simple! Greet them from afar!... At this moment, airplanes and airports could be a true mean of (fast) transport and nursery... also for the viruses... and only those who are absolutely unconscious (or perhaps, those who had no-brains at all), at this pandemic stage, will not reduce their travels to the minimum possible.

In that respect... we have a President of the Republic with very good sense, who is setting a true example for the country!...

We can and we must run away... only from ignorance!...

Pandemia... segundo a definição que podemos encontrar na Wikipédia... uma pandemia, é uma epidemia de doença infecciosa que se espalha entre a população de uma grande região geográfica, seja um continente ou à escala planetária.

Incrédulos ainda... estamos! Mas devemos consciencializarmo-nos rapidamente, de que podemos todos, ficar à mercê de uma... que surgiu no princípio deste ano... o súbito COVID-19.

A bilheteira, que fornece os bilhetes para Marte... ainda permanecerá encerrada, por mais algum tempo... por isso... só podemos fugir da ignorância... encarando a situação de frente, mentalizando-nos de que devemos ter a capacidade de a encarar de uma forma pro-activa, e não reactiva... pois ela... não acontece apenas... lá longe... onde só outros serão afectados...

O longe... do século passado... fica agora bem próximo... no espaço de horas, com as ligações intercontinentais...

Já pensaram começar a tomar alguma medida preventiva?... Já se começaram a informar, sobre o que podem, e devem fazer?...

A ignorância continua sendo a maior pandemia... / Ignorance remains the biggest pandemic...

Pandemic... according to the definition we can find on Wikipedia... a pandemic, is an epidemic of infectious disease that spreads among the population of a large geographic region, whether on a continent or on a planetary scale.

Incredulous... yes, we are! But we must become aware quickly, that we can all, be at the mercy of one... that appeared at the beginning of this year... the sudden COVID-19.
The ticket office, which supplies the tickets to Mars... will still remain closed, for some time... so... we can only escape from ignorance... facing the situation head on, thinking that we must have the ability to face it, in a proactive way , and not in a reactive way... because what is happening on the other side of the world... doesn't just happen... far away... where only others will be affected...
The distance... from the last century... is now very close... in the space of hours, with intercontinental connections...
Have you thought about starting to take any preventive measures?... Have you started to inform yourself about what you can and what you should do?...

Estudos recentes, indicam que até 2050, os corais poderão estar totalmente destruídos... em consequência da poluição, das alterações climáticas, e do bleaching (fenómeno despoletado pelo aumento da temperatura das águas, e da sua acidificação).

Os corais, alimentam cerca de 25% da vida marinha...

Muito provavelmente, a geração nascida nesta década, será a última a poder vê-los...

Recent studies indicate that by 2050, corals could be completely destroyed... as a result of pollution, climate change, and bleaching (triggered by rising water temperatures and acidification).
Corals feed about 25% of marine life...
Most likely, the generation born in this decade will be the last one to see them...

Supostamente, hoje começa o Verão... muito embora lá fora, chova, troveje e o dia se apresente, bastante cinzentão...

Ainda assim... declaro oficialmente aberta, a época balnear aqui no blogue...

Faço votos de que este Verão, não seja tão dramático, quanto o anterior, em matéria de incêndios, no nosso país... esperando que as autoridades competentes tenham aprendido alguma coisa, com as tragédias do ano passado, e nesse aspecto... não tornem a meter água...

Época Balnear... / Bathing Season...

Supposedly, today begins the summer... even though out there, it is raining, thundering and the day appears, much to gray...

Still... I declare officially open the bathing season here on the blog...

I hope this Summer will not be as dramatic as the previous one in terms of fires, here in our country... hoping that the competent authorities have learned something, with the last year's tragedies, and on that matter, do not sink themselves again, in bad decisions...
