"Silêncio!
O Natal está chegando.
Já podemos ouvir os sons que chegam das ruas.
Já podemos ver as árvores enfeitadas de luzes.
Na televisão, muitas propagandas falam do Natal.
Crianças correm e pedem presentes.
As lojas se enchem de pessoas que correm de um lado ao outro
cheias de pacotes.
Comemoram-se as compras, as vendas, o consumo.
Mas o verdadeiro Natal não é esse.
O verdadeiro Natal chega silencioso a cada vida,
e toma conta de cada coração
que não tenha perdido a doçura de sentir.
Este Natal chega de graça,
e também cheio de graça,
trazido pelo brilho suave da mais bela das luzes,
a luz da fé.
Por isso, neste Natal,
mais do que presentes é preciso distribuir amor.
É preciso abraçar nossos amigos.
Dividir a nossa mesa com aqueles que têm fome.
É preciso amar nossas famílias.
Caminhar com nossos filhos.
Reaprender a doçura de sentir.
Sentir como é bom estar vivo.
Sentir como é bom ter um lar.
Sentir a grandeza do amor de Deus
por meio do presente maior que poderia nos ser dado:
seu filho Jesus.
E cada um que celebre esta noite.
Cada homem, cada mulher,
que entenda que o Natal não é consumo, é doação.
Que entenda que o Natal não é uma data, é celebração.
Que sinta o coração encher-se de esperança.
Tem a obrigação de ensinar a cada dia,
o valor da fé, da amizade, da solidariedade,
e celebrar o verdadeiro nascimento de Jesus.
Que nasceu para que o mundo fosse melhor.

"Silence!
Christmas is coming.
We can already hear the sounds coming from the streets.
We can already see the trees decorated with lights.
On television, many advertisements talk about Christmas.
Children run and ask for gifts.
The stores are full of people running around from one place to the other
full of packages.
Shopping, sales, consumption are celebrated.
But this is not the real Christmas.
True Christmas comes quietly to every life,
and takes care of every heart
that has not lost the sweetness of feeling.
This Christmas comes for free,
and also full of grace,
brought by the soft glow of the most beautiful of lights,
the light of faith.
So this Christmas,
More than gifts, love must be distributed.
We need to hug our friends.
Sharing our table with those who are hungry.
We must love our families.
Walk with our children.
Relearn the sweetness of feeling.
Feel how good it is to be alive.
Feel how good it is to have a home.
Feel the greatness of God's love
through the greater gift that could be given to us:
his son Jesus.
And for every one that celebrates tonight.
Every man, every woman,
who understands that Christmas is not consumption, it is donation.
Who understands that Christmas is not a date, it is a celebration.
May your heart be filled with hope.
And remember that you have an obligation to teach each day,
the value of faith, friendship, solidarity,
and celebrate the true birth of Jesus.
That was born to make the world better.
That was born so that the world was a place of love and far greater."
Christmas... it is kindness in the form of actions, generosity of sharing, and a will based on hope and faith to move on...
